There is an exciting movement in Sandy Springs to bring original art to our public spaces. The group that is spearheading this initiative is Art Sandy Springs (ARTSS).  ARTSS has recently announced a public art project for Sandy Springs.Ten outdoor sculptures have been selected and the citizens of Sandy Springs will vote to determine the winner of the People’s Choice Award. The winning artist will receive $15,000 for the purchase of their sculpture. This sculpture will become the first piece of art in the City of Sandy Springs permanent public art collection. All other selected pieces will be on loan for 12 months of public display.ARTSS in the Open is a non-profit, all volunteer group committed to the arts and our community. This exciting project will be the beginning of a legacy art collection in the City of Sandy Springs.  The Sandy Springs Society is the Presenting Sponsor of ARTSS in the Open. The opening will take place at the Sandy Springs Regional Library garden on May 17, 2008.

If you are interested in volunteering to help prepare the grounds for the sculpture displays, you can do so during Leadership Sandy Springs 2008 Volunteer For A Better Sandy Springs.  Download the brochure and register for the Sandy Springs Conservancy  project.  This is a great way to support the arts in Sandy Springs.
